Cooking traditional dishes and sweets handed down for generations in a community among the hills
Classes of local cuisine are organized by a non-profit organization, Kirari Suigen-Mura, founded by local residents in the Suigen ("riverhead") district of Kikuchi City. One of its main activities is to preserve and promote the local cuisine and special dishes prepared on the occasion of festivals and major events. The cooking classes are taught by local women. The NGO is also making a recipe collection titled Delicious Suigen Recipes.
