Ideventure | TRAVEL GUIDE IN KYUSHU, "reQreate"

Ideventure

Ride through irrigation channel—experience possible nowhere else in Kyushu—to enjoy natural scenery

*In order to prevent spreading of the COVID-19-infected Pneumonia, Ideventure has cancelled the project throughout the 2020 season. sorry for the inconvenience and look forward to the next year to see you.

Ideventure is a kayak ride through irrigation canals Haru-ide, which draw clear spring water from the Kikuchi valley. An "Ide" is an irrigation channel for drawing water to rice paddies. The Haruide irrigation system has more water than most other irrigation systems in Kumamoto Prefecture. You take a two-person kayak and go through woodland, under bridges, through pitch-dark tunnels, hearing water sounds and feeling breeze. The adventure ride gives you an insight to the life in satoyama, natural woodland coexisting with the villagers living nearby. There are two courses. The short course is for beginners, 700-meter long and the ride lasts 10 minutes. It is arranged for group booking or on the occasion of events only. The 2 km long main course, Shin-Mabu Course, lasts 30 minutes and has a 300-meter underground tunnel. Children need to be four years or older. Since its inception in 2014, this attraction has drawn a lot of attention as an initiative to use local resources for nature-oriented tourism.
