Local sweets shop for chestnut lovers
A sweets factory within Yamaga City Speciality Craft Village Anzu no Oka, An is the ambassador for all things chestnut, and serves various types of sweets using the ingredient. This is because Yamaga city boasts the highest number of chestnut production in western Japan, with the town of Kikuka as a big contributor. Fans love visiting An every summer for their limited Mont Blanc style shaved ice piled with rich Yamaga chestnut cream. The Yamaga chestnut choux cream pastries (cream puffs) is a regular menu throughout the year, but make sure to order in advance or visit the store at an early hour as they sell out quickly. Apart from the chestnut menus, An also serves organic apricots from Anzu no Oka and sweets made with other locally harvested fruits. Guests eating inside the pastry shop can order a cake set (550 yen, one drink included) at the venue’s cafe.
