Yamaga Onsen Seiryuso | TRAVEL GUIDE IN KYUSHU, "reQreate"

Yamaga Onsen Seiryuso

Old Ryokan proud of its excellent food

This old establishment in Yamaga onsen district was established in 1908 and has a history over 100 years. The ryokan consists of two buildings. One of them, Rokumontei has traditional Japanese-style guestrooms that reflect essence of Japanese culture. Suikyoan was built in April 2018 and has guestrooms in a combined western and Japanese style with an open-air bath and a view over Kikuchi River. In its early history, the inn was a famous high-class restaurant in Yamaga, which was a shukuba (post station) town, and today offers Japanese course meal meticulously prepared with plenty of seasonal local meat, fish, and vegetables as well as a variety of local sake. The free-flowing hot water filling the baths comes from the inn's own hot spring, which produces a large volume of soft and smooth water. Suikyoan also has a foot bath that relaxes and refreshes the guests in its courtyard.
