Aerial gateway to Kyushu
Fukuoka International Airport is the main airport for Fukuoka, the largest city in Kyushu, but is located only five kilometers away from the city center and known for easy access. From the station right beneath the domestic terminal, it takes only five minutes by subway to get to JR Hakata station and eleven minutes to Nishitetsu Fukuoka station. The airport serves more than 23 million passengers every year, and the number of flight arrivals and departures are the third largest in Japan, only after Haneda and Narita Airports. The airport has undergone major renovation in recent years, and a large food court has been built as part of the renovation. Fukuoka is famous for superb food, including food and drink served in street stands, and the new food court has added to the culinary attraction of the city.
